Value “Billing” [sic]

During my interview on the Agency Growth Podcast, Jake and Cody used the term “value billing” instead of “value pricing” several times.

This is an extraordinarily common mistake. Even I failed to appreciate the difference between the two terms for an embarrassingly long time.

In situations like this, I sometimes try to delicately point out the distinction to the other person, but it seemed beside the point in this particular context.

Anyhoo...

It’s been on my mind, so here are a couple of past articles that go into the difference:

From Pricing vs Billing

Pricing—deciding the amount required as payment for something offered for sale.

Billing—the process of making out or sending invoices.

And...

From “How do I convert a client to value billing [sic]?”

The correct term is “value pricing” not “value billing” - Maybe people use these two terms interchangeably, so this probably sounds like a distinction without a difference. However, there is a huge difference between “pricing” and “billing” and confusing the two terms can indicate that one doesn’t yet quite have their head around the core concepts of value pricing.
